On February 23, 2022 , the Middle East Forum for Policies and Future Studies organized a special workshop for Arab journalists in Istanbul. The workshop targets a number of field correspondents, news site managers and workers in the field of press preparation and report writing.
The Forum had chosen one of the large hotels near the media companies in Istanbul to make it easier for all participants to reach the place.
The course, which lasted for nine hours, included a detailed explanation of international human rights law, its origins, stages of development, media jargon or vocabulary and the most prominent terms that journalists should use and not confuse them when preparing news reports or during their reporting of events. The course also aimed to build the capacity of media professionals in monitoring and documenting grave violations of human rights; especially during wars and armed conflicts.
The workshop included a presentation of video reports, followed by a detailed explanation about the stages of writing the human rights report and its sections. In the end, certificates were awarded to the participants.
